Communication Access Realtime
Translation Provider. A professional
who provides effective communication
via a word-for word translation from
spoken English to written English.
ALD
Assistive Listening Device.
A form of auxiliary aid
working either with a hear-
ing aid/cochlear implant or
alone to improve the ability to hear all
interactions.
ALS
Assistive Listening System. An elec-
tronic system that boosts the decibel
transmission of the spoken word and
works in conjunction with a hearing
aid.

Settings
The presiding officer or similar official of
any court, board, commission, agency. Or licensing
or law enforcement authority of the state or any
of its political subdivisions, shall appoint in collabo-
ration with the Colorado Commission for the
Deaf and Hard of Hearing (the Commission) all
qualified Auxiliary Service Providers.
The appointment applies to all jurisdic-
tions of the Colorado State Court system. This
does not include the Denver County Court and
any municipal court.
The appropriate Auxiliary Service Pro-
vider(s) shall be appointed when a person who is
