JAIPUR GAVE NEW FASHION DIRECTIONS AT LAKME FASHION
JYOTEE KHAITAN PRESENTED A PRETTY PEASANT INSPIRED LINE IN NUETRAL
Mumbai Oct 21, 2008: The highlight of the collection was white, blue, grey,
brown, with touches of pink, purple, orange and some green, rust, and yellow
for Jyotee Khaitan’s fashion offering titled “Faux Bauhaus Chic”.
The theme was an inspiration of the German movement with touches of the
plantation workers’ look that came together very well for summer wear.
The silhouettes were comfortable with churidars and pants teamed with fluid
tops; while Zouave shapes for the trousers went very well with the asymmetric
tops. The occasional sari drapes and delightful pleating and surface texturing
were discreetly done for linen, georgette, chiffon, net and comfortable
It was a compact good collection which Jyotee Khaitan can hope to sell very
well for Spring/Summer 2009.
MANISH GUPTA DISPLAYED A PRISTINE ELEGANT COLLECTION
Pastel ivory, yellow and dramatic black in knits, cotton Chanderi and georgette
was the basis of Manish Gupta’s utterly feminine collection with amazing
texturing of fabrics for a line of short dresses. Selecting just tonal
embellishments with cotton tape, pin tucks and a hint of glitter, the sharply
cut ensembles were a delight to behold.
Empire and princess line silhouettes, smart shifts and the finale of two black
dresses - one with layered pleated glitter and the other a flared princess line
number with tonal embroidery were the highlight of the show. Manish Gupta’s
utterly timeless creations will undoubtedly be hot sellers for Spring/Summer
