BTC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP/GRANT APPLICATION PROCESS
Dear Prospective/Current BTC Student:
On this web site you will find a one‐page sheet titled BTC Foundation Grant/Scholarship Application. Each year,
the BTC Foundation awards approximately 50 scholarships and grants to BTC students (not including other special
awards such as Nursing Assistant, GED/HSED grants, etc.). The selection for these 50 awards is made based on a
written application which is included on this site. If you wish to be considered for any scholarships or grants (other
than the regular financial aid awards made through BTC’s Financial Aids Office, which is separate from the BTC
Foundation Office), then you must complete the application.
To assist our students in financial planning, scholarship awards for fall semester are due on April 1st and
awarded shortly thereafter. Scholarship applications for spring semester are due on October 1st and
awarded shortly thereafter. Singular scholarship awards may be made during other times of the year at
the discretion of the Foundation staff. Please inquire if you are interested. The BTC Foundation has a
committee which reviews the applications and scores them. The scores are based on six main criteria:
• Need (considers student’s income and occupational situation)
• Family circumstance (considers if the applicant is supporting a family, has dependents, has medical
bills, etc.)
• Grades/scholarship (considers if the applicant has exhibited decent grades in prior educational
settings)
• Neatness/completeness of application (applicant answers all questions with as much detail as
necessary and application is readable)
• Future potential (in the essay, considers whether the student’s goals and plans are realistic and
obtainable)
• Letters of recommendation (considers if the letters are from appropriate persons [e.g., not relatives or
friends] and if they support the candidate’s character and serious val
