Bingo Raises Money for Charity
Bingo players and staff from a club in Southampton have helped to raise more than £1,500 for charity as part of a national campaign by Gala Bingo
in support of Sue Ryder Care.
Gala Bingo is on a national drive to raise money for the charity, which gives help and support to people with long term illnesses and end of life needs.
It is a national charity, which relies on support from the public in order to keep itself running. The Gala Bingo Hall in Southampton staged the charity
event as part of Gala Bingo's national drive to support Sue Ryder Care, the latest in a number of similar events that have been taking place around the
country. Players have been very supportive of the drive, and from the Southampton Gala Bingo hall alone over one thousand five hundred pounds has
already been raised.
The money was raised through a number of prize draws and tombolas, which took place over a month long period. Players and staff were very keen to
get involved, buying a very large number of tickets for the tombola and raising a great deal of money in the process. Local businesses also helped out
the cause, by donating some of the prizes that were up for grabs on the tombola.
A staff spokesperson has revealed that many people were interested in the tombola prizes, since the last time an event like this was held for charity
the main prize was a weekend for two in Bruges, Belgium. Players and staff were looking for prizes that would arouse the same level of interest in this
Sue Ryder Care is always looking for ways to collect funds, in order that it can keep carrying out the very important work that it does. This is why Gala
Bingo set up the national drive to raise money for the charity, which in the past has served as a lifeline to hundreds of terminally ill and dying patients.
It is hoped that as Gala Bingo's fundraising drive continues publicity for the charity will be heightened and more donations will be received.
