STOCKTON, Calif.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Today, Electric Vehicles International hosted an event at
their headquarters in Stockton, California announcing the signing of an agreement with Kyoho Manufacturing
California (KHMCA) to support displaced northern California auto supplier workers laid off by the closure of the
NUMMI Production Plant. EVI recognizes the value of these highly skilled displaced workers and is glad to offer
opportunities to apply their auto manufacturing skills to the production of zero-emission EVI vehicles, including
EVI’s newly launched neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV), the EVI eMega. Both the eMega and the heavy-duty
Walk-In Van were available to test drive at the event.
Congressman McNerney said “It’s great to hear so much good news in one day from Electric Vehicles International,
an innovative company that recently made its home in Stockton. We need companies like EVI to help create jobs
and lay the groundwork for our area to lead the way with the production of clean technology.”
The opportunity to grow green jobs in California is made possible in part by EVI’s recent partnership with the
California Energy Commission and the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency. EVI is very proud to
announce that on June 30, 2010 the Energy Commission committed to invest $1.153 million from the State’s
Advanced Vehicle Technology Program to develop and demonstrate EVI’s Range-Extended Medium-Duty Electric
Pickup Truck. Additionally, the State recently invested $494,000 from the California Employment Training Panel's
AB 118 program to provide workforce development and state-of-the art skills to enable California workers to
manufacture zero emission EVI vehicles.
