CFSI Releases The Nonprofit’s Guide to Prepaid
A new resource for nonprofit organizations serving underbanked consumers, sponsored by The Network
Branded Prepaid Card Association (NBPCA) and NetSpend

CHICAGO--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Today the Center for Financial Services Innovation (CFSI), in
collaboration with NBPCA, NetSpend and the Annie E. Casey foundation, released The Nonprofit’s Guide to
Prepaid Cards, designed to build general awareness around prepaid cards and give nonprofit organizations the tools
and resources needed to incorporate prepaid into their programming.
The guide was developed for nonprofit organizations focused on consumer finance issues that are interested in
learning more about prepaid cards. It provides a basic primer on prepaid products, as well as outlines several ways
for nonprofits to engage with prepaid, strategic considerations to help them select the right approach, and tips for
success with the path chosen. The guide was created in response to an increased number of requests from nonprofits
for information about the prepaid industry. “General purpose reloadable prepaid cards are widely available, but not
well understood. We created this guide for nonprofits because they play a critical role in educating and connecting
underbanked consumers to financial products and services, including prepaid cards,” said Sarah Gordon, CFSI
senior relationship manager.
“We were happy to support CFSI in the development of The Nonprofit’s Guide to Prepaid Cards. We hope that it
will provide a prepaid educational resource for CFSI’s network of nonprofits and aid their efforts to help
underbanked Americans save and better manage their finances, and ultimately enter the financial mainstream,” said
Kirsten Trusko, NBPCA president and executive director.
