SYNOPSIS
Earned Value Management, or EVM is one of the most effective project management tools and cost control methods used
today. Mr. Stephen Warhoe will introduce the attendees to EVM’s history and why it is so effective on projects that range
from oil refinery construction projects to software development projects. He will discuss the basic concepts of EVM,
including the integration of the project’s scope of work, budget, and schedule. Other related topics affecting the EVM
system will be discussed including work breakdown structures, resource loading of the project schedule, forecasting final
project costs, productivity issues, and potential flaws of EVM. A discussion on performance indices, the most effective
aspects of EVM, will then follow. Mr. Warehoe will then conclude the presentation with some example problems. This
presentation will provide an excellent overview for all project controls professionals.
