INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
SMARTEMP™ PROVISIONAL C&B RESIN
CAUTION: US Federal Law restricts this material to sale by or on the order of a licensed professional.
SmarTemp is a radiopaque, self-curing, two-component, composite temporary crown & bridge material. It is supplied in convenient 1:1
automix cartridges for bubble-free mixes. It is especially formulated for easy handling and minimal shrinkage. SmarTemp may be easily adjusted
and finished with rotary instruments after final cure. SmarTemp delivers high flexural strength for long span bridges, and excellent abrasion resistance
to maintain proper occlusion and interproximal spacing.
For use as a temporary material to protect teeth prepared to receive inlays, onlays, laminates, crowns or bridges, until permanent restorations are
fabricated and inserted.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
All resins produce heat during polymerization. The amount of heat generated by a single crown is negligible. However, to avoid tissue irritation,
temporary bridges containing a large volume of material should be fabricated on a model outside of the mouth.
Like all similar materials, SmarTemp’s setting properties are affected by temperature. It should always be used at room temperature—never when chilled.
To facilitate removal, preparations may be lubricated with KY Jelly, glycerin or Vaseline. (Lubrication is essential if the preparation contains composite
core material to avoid “lock-on”.) If you intend to protect the preparations with Brush&Bond® during the provisional period, apply the protective bonding
agent AFTER the provisional restoration has been fabricated, and the prep has been cleaned with a solvent like acetone or ethyl alcohol.
MAKING THE PROVISIONAL RESTORATION
For predictable results, use a watch or timer when following this procedure.
1) Create a pre-operative matrix to form the restoration (impression, crown form, or plastic vacuum-form.)
2) DOUBLE BLEED THE CARTRIDGE BEFORE EACH USE TO ASSURE AN ACCURATE 1:1 MIX.
