CLASSIFICATION DESCRIPTION
EVENTS AND FACILITIES SUPERVISOR
SUMMARY:
The position in this class is responsible for overseeing the marketing, promoting and utilization
of Parks and Recreations facilities. This position organizes, plans, budgets and prioritizes the
public’s use of use of these facilities for City-sponsored and privately-sponsored social,
cultural, athletic, meeting, ceremonial and public market events. Responsibilities include:
hiring, training, overseeing and evaluating regular and temporary staff needed to properly staff
events; preparing contractual agreements with facility tenants and event sponsors, budgeting for
program and facility operations, and developing and administering facility and event policies
and procedures to guide appropriate facility use and allowable activities and other related duties
as assigned.
SCOPE:
Reports to: Parks and Recreation Manager for Recreation Services
Supervises: Events Coordinator, Recreation Specialist and support staff.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This position is distinguished from other Recreation classes by it responsibility for coordinating
events, controlling the budget and generating revenue through the rental of department owned
facilities. By contrast, Recreation Coordinators have, as their primary focus, the programming
of recreation activities in facilities controlled by others.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily indoors requiring some lifting of moderately heavy objects, some
reaching and occasional use of cleaning equipment. The incumbent works, and is on call
during evenings and weekends, and other irregular hours as deemed necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Arrange rentals for Pickering Barn, Tibbetts Creek Manor and for major events at the
Issaquah Community Center consistent with facility usage priorities and schedules.
