The job of Clerical Assistant is done for the purpose/s of performing requested clerical support for assigned
department; communicating various information regarding activities and/or response to requests; and providing for
timely and accurate distribution of materials.

Essential Functions
Answers telecommunication systems for the purpose of screening calls, transferring calls, responding to inquiries,
and/or taking messages.

Compiles a variety of reports and recommendations (e.g. reconciliations, summaries) for the purpose of providing
accurate information on assigned programs.
•
Coordinates a variety of activities for the purpose of delivering services in conformance to established guidelines.
•
Evaluates situations (e.g. involving other staff, the public, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or
directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
•
Maintains a variety of files and/or documents (e.g. calendar, inventory, purchase orders, etc.) for the purpose of
documenting and/or providing reliable information.
•
Prepares written materials (e.g. reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing
written reference and/or conveying information.
•
Processes requests (e.g. job verification, purchase orders, etc.) for the purpose of providing required information
and/or services.
•
Responds to inquiries of staff, other educational institutions, and the public for the purpose of providing information
and/or direction.
•
Supports assigned administrative personnel for the purpose of providing assistance with their administrative
functions.
•
Other Functions
Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
