Cost of living in Thailand
If you've never been to Thailand before let me tell you You're in for a treat! In many ways, not just
because it's really cheap here. Now let's put things into prospective here! When I say cheap, I mean
compared to the west it is. However prices rise everywhere and Thailand is not the exception!
It's not quite as cheap as it was a few years ago, inflation has caught up with this part of the world, but
at a slower pace here. Don't believe those bar stool charlies back in farangland that tell you stories of
going out with 500 baht in their pockets, having a meal, getting drunk, picking up a hooker and still
having change left at the end of the night, it's total fantasy talk!
General cost of the basics in Thailand
Here is a rundown of the basics. Please take into account that prices do change and this was fairly
accurate for 2007 to 2009.
Thai Beer bought from the 7/11 = 35 to 40 baht
Fried rice and pork / chicken / shrimp = 35 to 50 baht
Small bottle of pepsi = 10 to 12 baht

Rent on small condo = 2,000 baht upwards depending on town area size etc
Taxi ride 20 km = 350 to 400 baht
