Countdown to Tartan Week .... New York Celebrates Scottish-American Heritage April 3 to 10, a
full week of events, topped off with a parade. The National Tartan Day New York Committee
invites all New Yorkers to join in celebrating the 12th Annual Tartan Week, from April 3rd to
10th. There are diverse events throughout the week, ranging from the Dressed to Kilt fashion
extravaganza to Whisky Live, from the Adam Smith Business Forum, to the Harry Benson photo
exhibit, to the Pre-Parade Ceilidh, topped off by the Parade - there are events for all.
(PRWEB) March 22, 2010 -- The National Tartan Day New York Committee invites all New Yorkers to join in
celebrating the 12th Annual Tartan Week, from April 3rd to 10th.
On April 3rd, the 10k Scotland Run takes place in Central Park. Over 7,000 people completed the run last year.
On Ellis Island, two days of festivities will be taking place reflecting Scottish immigrant history.
Monday April 5th, Tartan Week continues down in Lower Manhattan with an evening of Scottish music from
Stone Street to the East River.
The evening begins at 6pm with a concert in the British Garden at Hanover Square featuring New York-based
McTalla Mor, Edinburgh’s A Whisky Kiss “unplugged”, and
Laura McGhee, rock violinist from Glasgow, together with the New York Scottish Pipes & Drums. The music
continues along the cobbled way of Stone Street, with performances at Ullysees and Becketts.

On Saturday April 10th, the day begins at 10am with the Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan, a Scottish-American
non-denominational church service which includes the blessing of tartan flags.
