EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: Blue Green viscous liquid.
IMMEDIATE CONCERNS: May be slightly toxic if inhaled or absorbed through the skin. May cause
severe eye irritation. May be irritating to the respiratory tract, skin, and gastrointestinal tract. May
cause skin sensitization.
POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS
EYES: May cause significant irritation to the eyes.
SKIN: Allergic reaction and significant irritation to the skin is possible.
SKIN ABSORPTION: May be slightly toxic if absorbed through the skin.
INGESTION: May be slightly toxic if ingested. May cause gastrointestinal discomfort with any or all of
the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, lethargy, or diarrhea. Excessive exposure may cause liver,
kidney, and/or thyroid damage.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF OVEREXPOSURE
CHRONIC EFFECTS: Chronic inhalation exposure to 2-Propoxyethanol causes fetotoxicity and
postnatal developmental toxicity in laboratory animals. Ethylene glycol monopropyl ether (EGPE)
causes red blood cell rupture (hemolysis) in many animals species with secondary effects in the
kidneys, liver, and spleen. The human red blood cell is much less sensitive to hemolysis, so these
