We would like to commend you on your step to
improve air quality by driving a fuel efficient and low
The Clean Air Decal allows you to use your vehicle
in the HOV (high occupancy vehicle) lanes even when
you are driving alone. The Alliance would like to
encourage you to share your pleasant ride in the HOV
lanes with carpool partners. This way you reduce air pol-
lution even more and also help reduce traffic congestion.
Carpool, use HOV lanes and we’ll
provide you with a great incentive.
If you use carpool lanes to go in or out of San Mateo
County and commute with just one other passenger in
your car, you and your partner(s) receive an $80
incentive each (a one time offer per person).
(Hybrid vehicle owners will receive gas cards. Owners of
other types of vehicles that qualify for the Clean Air Vehicle
decal will receive an Amazon gift certificate.)
Form a NEW carpool with 2 or more people over
the age of 18 in your qualifying vehicle; or add a
NEW member to your existing two-person carpool.
Use your qualifying vehicle to carpool a minimum
of two days per week, for an eight week period.
Register yourself and your carpool members by
completing this application form (front/back).
Mark the appropriate box for vehicle type:

Provide a copy of the Clean Air Decal Certificate
from the DMV.

Your carpool must consist of at least two adults (18 years of
age or older). The use of carpool lanes is a prerequisite for
this incentive. The Alliance will approve the application if
a sensible route to/from includes carpool lanes. This
application is subject to the Alliance’s approval. This offer is
valid while funds are available.
