Choudenshi Bioman (???????? ,Chōdenshi
Baioman), translated into English as Super
Electronic Bioman,
is Toei Company’s
eighth installment in the Super Sentai series.
It was aired on TV Asahi from February 4,
1984 to January 26, 1985, with a total of 51
episodes, as well as a movie.
Choudenshi Bioman was the first Super
Sentai to do many things that would become
common place in later installments. Bioman
was the first series to have two women on the
team at once, and the first to feature a fe-
male hero in yellow; she was eventually
killed, making Bioman the first series to kill
off a female hero. However, Bioman was
fairly unique in that the man-sized monsters
fought early each episode were not the same
as the large monsters fought later in the epis-
odes. Bioman was the first series to have the
show’s full title to be cried at the beginning
of the opening sequence, as opposed to the
previous two shows that announce only the
title
Plot
Many centuries ago, the android Peebo and
the Bio Robo came to Earth from the fallen
Bio Star. The Bio Robo showered five people
with the Bio Particles, which would be passed
on to later generations. In the present day,
Doctor Man and his Shin Teikoku (New Em-
pire) Gear threaten the world. Peebo must
find the descendants of the original Bio
Particle-showered five to form the Chouden-
shi (Super Electronic Squadron) Bioman.
