The University of Memphis has been awarded
a scholarship for the 2009-2010 academic
year under the Department of Defense (DoD)
Information Assurance Scholarship Program,
with Vilas Rajanna selected as the recipient.
Mr. Rajanna has a double major in Manage-
ment Information Systems and Accountancy
and expects to receive his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration in Spring 2010. This scholar-
ship includes tuition, required books, selected fees, and a stipend. The Principal Investigator at the
University of Memphis is Dr. Judith C. Simon, Co-Director of the Center for Information Assurance and
Professor of Management Information Systems.

2009 IEEE Symposium on Computational
Dr. Dasgupta gave a tutorial on the symposium topic introducing
different state-of-the-art computational intelligence techniques in solving
computer and network security problems.
Julio G. Rodriguez, Strategic Advisor for Control System of Department
of Homeland Security, gave a talk on Critical Infrastructure Protection.
Robert J. Stratton, the Director of Government Research at Syman-
tec Research Labs, gave a lecture on Internet Security Threat Landscape: Scaling to Meet the Threat.
Justin Zhan, the professor of CyLab at Carnegie Mellon University, gave a talk on Privacy-Preserving
Collaborative data Mining.
Dr. Dipankar Dasgupta organized the IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence in Cyber Security (CICS)
at Sheraton Music City Hotel, Nashville, (TN) from March 30 - April 2, 2009. The students who participated in
the event and presented research papers are in the picture to the right.
