Festival Purpose is to provide a positive, well-rounded musical experience for our students through performance adjudication and theory testing; to promote a
standard of excellence in music education and performance.
Teacher Eligibility: National/state/local dues must be paid and received by RMTA prior to registration. Participating teachers must assist on-site the day of the
Student Eligibility: Students must be actively studying with their current RMTA teacher for at least SIX MONTHS PRIOR to festival date; open to students of all
ages and levels, including adults. Students must reside in Pennsylvania.
Instrumentalists should prepare any two contrasting pieces (memorization not required).
Vocalists should prepare any two contrasting pieces (memorized).
Pianists at the intermediate and preparatory levels should prepare two contrasting pieces from two different periods of music history
(memorized). Elementary level students need to memorize two contrasting pieces by two different composers (minimum of 16 measures in

Note to Pianists and Organists: Arrangements of standard classical repertoire and performance of only a section of any work or movement
are unacceptable for intermediate and college preparatory levels! Due to time constraints, a single movement of a multi-movement work
such as a sonata or suite is appropriate and preferred.
