ENTERTAINMENT NETWORK (INDIA) LIMITED
Market
In this age of GPS, satellite communication and cutting-edge ‘anytime,
anywhere’ technologies, there’s one invention of a bygone era that
continues to stand tall: The Radio. Having survived the onslaught of
great scientific innovations, this humble
device remains accessible to even
the remotest parts of India
where other media like
TV or newspaper are
yet to penetrate. If
anything this medium
has made a grand
comeback in recent
years following the FM
privatisation policy of
the Government in 1999.
Making the rock group
Queen’s ode to the radio seem
prophetic: “You had your time; you
had the power; you’ve yet to have your
finest hour… Radio someone still loves you.”
Radio Mirchi, riding the crest of this new wave, was early in seizing
the opportunity provided by the Phase I of the auction of FM frequencies
in 2000.
Achievements
Since launching its first Radio Station in Indore in 2001, Radio Mirchi has
gone from strength to strength. It is the largest private FM radio network
in India with stations in
Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata,
Chennai, Bangalore,
