Aluminum Extrusion 6063 Scrap: A Sustainable Material for High-Performance Alloys
Aluminum Extrusion 6063 scrap is highly recyclable and can be reused multiple times in the
production of various aluminum alloys. In industrial manufacturing—especially when dealing
with both standard and custom aluminum extrusions—pure aluminum is rarely used. Instead, it
is alloyed with other elements to enhance its natural properties such as strength, corrosion
resistance, and machinability. The selection of alloying elements depends on the specific
performance requirements of the final product.
At Ivory Phar Inc. Aluminum, we specialize in working with the versatile 6000-series alloys,
offering our clients both quality and flexibility in manufacturing.

Overview of Scrap Aluminum Alloy Series
Choosing the right alloy is critical for achieving the best results in aluminum extrusion. Our
experienced engineers and technicians are available to guide you through this process.
Aluminum alloys are grouped into seven major series based on their primary alloying
elements—each offering distinct benefits:

1000-Series
 Composition: 99% or more pure aluminum
 Properties: Lightweight, highly ductile, and corrosion-resistant
 Best For: Flexible applications where purity is essential
2000-Series
 Main Alloying Element: Copper (2–10%)
 Properties: High strength with improved corrosion resistance
 Best For: Aerospace and structural components
3000-Series
 Main Alloying Element: Manganese
 Properties: Enhanced strength, good heat resistance, and excellent corrosion protection
 Best For: Roofing, siding, cookware, and storage tanks
4000-Series
 Main Alloying Element: Silicon
 Properties: Lower melting point and increased wear resistance
 Note: Can become heat-treatable and transition into 6000-series when alloyed with
magnesium
5000-Series
 Main Alloying Element: Magnesium
 Properties: Superior strength and corrosion resistance, especially in marine
environments
 Best For: Marine structures, pressure vessels, and automotive parts
6000-Series (Our Specialty at Ivory Phar Inc.)
 Main Alloying Elements: Magnesium and Silicon
 Common Grades: 6005, 6063, 6463
 Properties: Excellent strength, corrosion resistance, ductility, and machinability
 Applications: Architectural, structural, and custom precision extrusions
7000-Series
 Main Alloying Elements: Zinc, with traces of magnesium or copper
 Properties: Highest strength among aluminum alloys
 Best For: Aerospace and high-performance applications

At Ivory Phar Inc., we begin each project with high-grade billets sourced from our trusted global
suppliers. Each billet is composed of 99.9% recyclable aluminum, in line with our commitment
to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Our Manufacturing Process:
1. Billet Cutting: We cut billets into 7-inch diameter sections tailored to your required
length and weight.
2. Preheating: Billets are heated in a long oven to precise temperatures for optimal
extrusion conditions.
3. Extrusion: The heated billet is pushed through a steel die—standard or custom—at up to
10 million pounds of pressure.
4. Cooling and Stretching: The profile is cooled, stretched for dimensional precision, and
cut to specified lengths.
5. Heat Treatment: The final product is treated for maximum strength and durability.
