Countdown to the World Cup Starts Now, Say DialAFlight
DialAFlight offer advice to football fans headed to the World Cup next month
(PRWEB) May 14, 2010 -- DialAFlight are today reporting both good and bad news for football supporters
hoping to visit next month’s World Cup in South Africa.
The good news is that hotel prices are tumbling as hoteliers are forced to reduce prices to secure bookings for
unsold rooms over the World Cup period. Many have slashed the rates they were originally offering by more than
50%.
The bad news is the planned BA strike, which could affect supporters headed to South Africa with British
Airways. Cabin crew union ‘Unite’ have announced a series of strikes due to take place over five separate
periods, the last of which would coincide with the first weekend of the tournament in South Africa.
Peter Stephens, managing director of DialAFlight, one of the UK's leading travel companies who offer flights to
South Africa, today commented “It’s going to be a white knuckle ride for football supporters as there are very few
seats available with other airlines. We are doing our best to secure seats for customers as they become available,
but most of these are on indirect flights, so anyone booked with BA has few alternatives.”
During the last industrial action BA kept 79% of long haul flights running and the figure is expected to be even
higher this time. In addition, the long haul flying programmes from Gatwick and City airports will remain
unaffected.
Peter Stephens went on to speak of some further positives “During the previous strikes we had very short notice
of cancellations. But BA will be letting us know five days in advance which routes are being cancelled and which
will be flying. In addition it has also been agreed that any of our customers due to travel on any date during the
strike period (18 May to 9 June) may rebook free of charge for any date up to a year ahead.”
