Overview
This project is aimed to develop a self-directed course for teachers at Birdville
Elementary School. The course will train teachers in using Microsoft Excel 2007 based
gradebook.
The principle of Birdville Elementary School wants all teachers to use MS Excel to keep
track of student grades. These excel files will then be exported to the new student
database which was implemented recently. After preliminary needs assessment it was
ascertained that:
• Each classroom has a single computer connected to a LAN, as well as a copy of
MS Excel(There is no computer lab on campus)
• The principle wants the teachers to spend no more than one-two hours on the
training
• There is no funding available for instruction-led training (ILT) to use the Excel
based gradebook
• Teachers will complete the training during office hours or study hall
• The library has three computers with MS Excel software
• Most teachers use MS Word on a regular basis, but majorities still use pencil and
paper to compute grades.
