TUFF-BOY 961, 978, 991 FAST DRY WROUGHT IRON BLACKS PRODUCT PROFILE DESCRIPTION Tuff-Boy Fast Dry Wrought Iron Blacks are quality enamels formulated with alkyd resins and rust inhibitive pigments to provide a durable, protective coating for wrought iron or other ferrous metal. These quick drying products are the product of choice for production work where a fast handling time is needed. The semi-gloss sheen has excellent mar resistance. When used in conjunction with Tuff-Boy Rust Stop Primers, these products provide excellent corrosion protection for all ferrous metal surfaces. These products are not intended for residential use and may be applied only in industrial or shop applications. TYPICAL USE Tuff-Boy Fast Dry Wrought Iron Blacks are recommended on properly prepared ferrous metal surfaces. These products are an ideal choice for ornamental and decorative metal surfaces. They may also be used on heavy equipment, machinery, or structural steel. These products are not intended or recommended for residential use, and are classified as “Industrial Use Only”. PRIMERS Tuff-Boy Fast Dry Wrought Iron Blacks are self-priming, but to achieve excellent corrosion protection we recommend using Tuff-Boy Rust Stop Primers due to the fact that a color change will aid in getting two good coats of paint, and thus a good film build. If self-priming, we recommend two coats of paint, and a minimum 4.0 dry film thickness. Prime aluminum & galvanized metals with Tuff-Boy #1015 Butyl Wash Primer or #5-56 Acrylic waterborne DTM Primer. SURFACE PREPARATION The surface to be painted should be dry and free of any dirt, chalk, loose or peeling paint, grease, mildew, oil, rust, or other foreign contaminants. Grease and oil must be removed via solvent cleaning per SSPC-SP1. If you have any questions about proper surface preparation, check your surface preparation guide or consult your Farrell-Calhoun representative.
