About Friends of County Parks
The Friends of the County Parks, established in 1988, is a group of concerned citizens joining together to promote financial and community support to the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation, and Conservation Department. They develop public awareness of recreation as an important part of day-to-day life.
Funds provided by The Friends of the County Parks are used as a supplement to the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department budget and does not replace allocated tax dollars. These additional funds helps maintain, improve, and enhance services provided by the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department. The Friends of the County Parks enjoys a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit exemption status.

ED RADICE MEMORIAL 5K RUN AND 1 MILE
WALK – JANUARY 11TH
The Ed Radice Memorial 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk was held
on Saturday, January 11th at Ed Radice Sports Complex. It
was a great day for running and walking. The participants
got to run through the sports complex seeing all the ball
fields and trails over 3. 1 miles. The walkers went out a ½
mile and came back. All participants received a t-shirt and
medal. Special thanks to the Hillsborough County Parks &
Recreation Staff for putting on this event as part of their
Run Hillsborough Series.
BEST SHREDDER SERIES DATE ANNOUNCED
The Best Shredder Series has announce
the dates for this year’s competitions.
There will be 4 skateboard competitions
this year so come and see what all the
excitement is all about. The participants
do amazing things on a skateboard. The
dates for this year’s series are:
February 7th @ Jackson Springs Skate Park
April 10th @ Providence Skate Park
September 4th @ Carrollwood Village
Skate Park
November 20th @ Apollo Beach Skate Park
Medals will be awarded at the final event
at Apollo Beach.
PRESCRIBED BURN DEMO DAY
The Wildand Fire Management Team will
hold a Prescribed Burn Demo Day on
February 1st at Medard Park. Come out
learn why prescribe burns are healthy for
the environment. This event will not only
let you learn why setting controlled fires is
good for the habitat but will also have
games for kids, guided nature walks, live
music, food and a helicopter water drop!

RUN HILLSBOROUGH 5K SERIERS
The Run Hillsborough 5K Series has set it race dates.
The series will feature several of our parks
throughout Hillsborough County. Come and run 3.1
miles through our beautiful parks!. Upcoming races
will be held on:
Feb. 15th @ Stephen J Wortham Park
March 21st @ William Owens Pass
April 18th @ Carrollwood Village Park

PARENTS NIGHT OUT @ ROY HAYNES
RECREATION CENTER
Roy Haynes will host a “Parents Night
Out” on January 24th. Parents can drop
the kids off for a few hours and the kids
will participate in Diversity Activities which
will be put on by the recreation staff. For
more information about this event

DODGEBALL 2YOU TOURNAMENT
HELD AT WESTCHASE RECREATION
CENTER
Youth from all over the county came
together for a day of Dodgeball Fun on
December 27th at Westchase Recreation
Center. Dodgeball 2You brought their
equipment and teams of kids got to
participant in this childhood game that we
all remember playing but with a little
twist. The kids not only paid dodgeball
but they enjoyed pizza and drinks.
