Subcommittee Job Descriptions
Below is an overview of the tasks associated with each position.
FIRST AID/SAFETY
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with principal regarding what first aid items are required
• Obtain necessary first aid items/kit for first aid station
• Obtain sunscreen to have available at first aid station
• Set up first aid station near clubhouse on day of event
• Staff first aid station on day of event
• Make sure Volunteer Coordinators arrange for Safety Monitors and plan for
them (obtain vests, whistles, walk signs, etc…)
AWARDS CHAIR
Responsibilities: COMPLETE OVERHAUL OF PRIZE TYPES TBD
• Order medals for every student at Van Meter for participation award (not to
exceed $ each). Confirm student size with front office – currently
around 500 students
• Determine from the collection of the sponsor sheets, the student who
walked the most laps for the Golden Boot award (1 boy and 1 girl) and
which class earns the most money on a per student ratio.
• Arrange for engraving of award winners on plaques currently on display at
Van Meter
• NEW PROGRAMS TBD - New program - “Student with Most Pledges per
Class

COURSE SET-UP CHAIR
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with event chairs regarding course layout
• Determine layout and draw up plan prior to set-up (see last years sheet)
• Reserve and obtain delineators/cones for course set-up
• Obtain yellow caution tape for course set-up
• Set-up course on morning of event (pick-up truck may be needed)
DECORATIONS
Responsibilities:NEW DECOR TBD based on new Miles Program
• Coordinate with event chairs regarding decorations from past years and
any new decorations that will be needed
• Attempt for any new items to be re-usable whenever possible
• Make sure décor is incorporated in both the WAT and WFP layout plans
• Obtain access to storage area for decorations
• Coordinate with Volunteer Coordinator to ensure adequate skilled
volunteers are utilized in setting up barn
• Coordinate signage for event site
