Draper, Utah based Teach Your Kids has
released Reading Head Start -- an online
interative program to help K 4 students and
younger with reading difficulties learn to read
confidently. The program is geared towards
kids aged 2-9 years of age.
According to the Reading Head Start co-creator, children with
reading difficulties will encounter problems beyond being able to
read.
They will also find difficulty in
spelling, vocabulary and
comprehension.
According to the National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP), only 66% of 4th
grade students met or exceeded the lowest reading literacy standards in 2019. This
means that over 30% of the nation’s 4th graders are not meeting the lowest standard
measured by the NAEP.
Studies show that being a confident reader in 1st
and 2nd grade is critical to overall academic
success. "Literacy really is the cornerstone on
which all of education is built. That means that if
we want children to be successful, we have to
begin early”, says Dr. Needlman.
To begin the early reading learning process, Dr. Needlman suggests reading to
your toddlers at home to establish not only their emotional development, but
the development of early language and literacy.
Reading to them often, prepares
them for reading basic words by
the time they are 3-4 years old.
With the successful Reading Head Start program, your kids will
benefit from increased levels of vocabulary, longer attention span
and gain a broader knowledge chain.
Reading well will also open up
opportunities in expanding
knowledge of cultural references
and exposure to greater diversity
of thought.
With the reading confidence coming from Reading Head Start, your kids will benefit from increased
levels of vocabulary, and a longer attention span. Reading well will also open up opportunities in
expanding knowledge of cultural references and exposure to greater diversity of thought.
Moreover, reading widens the imagination and
increases empathy. It improves overall confidence
and bolsters a more positive attitude towards
learning. Not only will reading give your kids
academic success in school, but will also give them
improved economic opportunities in the future.
