AccuNews Accusoft’s Monthly Company Newsletter M A R C H 2 0 2 4 V O L . 3 Executive Note By John Armenia ACCUSPOTLIGHT ACCUWELL ACCUBELONG I N T H I S I S S U E ACCUWORK ACCUGIVE Dear Team, Wow, can you believe it's already March? For many, this month heralds the promise of spring and all the new opportunities it brings: the distinctive crack of baseball bats as spring training ushers in the new season, the soft buzz of bees around newly bloomed flowers, and up north, the anticipation of green grass soon replacing the snow. For me, March is the heart of the spring triathlon season. With two races already behind me and two more on the horizon, I’ve got my work cut out for me. My journey into the world of triathlons has been filled with invaluable lessons, not least of which is the importance of "racing your race." This mantra, while seemingly straightforward, serves as a constant reminder that adaptability is key. Each race begins with a set of goals – an overall finish time, segment-specific objectives, and perhaps aspirations of a top finish. Yet, once the race begins, the ability to reassess and adjust these goals becomes crucial. Unexpected challenges are par for the course: a stronger current that can either aid or hinder your swim, a sudden flat tire, or even running the 10K with a bike helmet on because you forgot to take it off in T2 (yes, I've actually done that). These experiences underscore the fluid nature of our endeavors, be they in sports or life. As the end of the first quarter approaches, it's the perfect time to reflect on our annual goals. Much like the transition from swim to bike in a triathlon, this is a moment to evaluate our progress and adjust our course as needed. Our initial goals are merely guideposts; the true path to achievement is malleable, shaped by our responses to unforeseen challenges. This month, let's embrace the spirit of adaptability. It's an opportunity to reassess where we stand, not only in relation to our targets but also within the broader context of our ever-changing environment. This isn't about abandoning our aspirations but about refining our strategies to realize them, armed with new insights and perspectives. Let us tackle the upcoming challenges with resilience and agility, knowing that each adjustment we make brings us one step closer to our goals, even if through a path we hadn't initially imagined. Here's to a March filled with thoughtful reflection, strategic adjustments, and a reinvigorated pursuit of our aspirations. 3/7 Stephen Bucholtz 3/12 Dmitry Sinelnikov 3/15 Michele Branin Kris Kindle 3/23 Jody Shumaker 3/24 Megan Brooks 3/25 Butch Taylor March Celebrations 1 Year Cadence Smith 2 Years Robert Alvarez Michele Branin Kito Middleton Birthdays Anniversaries 3 Years Alex Libertowski 5 Years Crystal Hoekcer 16 Years Lisa Joiner-Cummins Rhea Le Software Engineer in Support I M A R C H 2 0 2 4 V O L . 3 WELCOME TO THE TEAM! A c c u S p o t l i g h t C e l e b r a t i n g O u r P e o p l e Lisa Joiner-Cummins What do you like to do outside of work? Outside of work I own and ride horses. I grew up on a farm in Ohio and my Mom trained horses so I got started riding early. In my teens I competed in Western Equitation shows and eventually moved on to Endurance riding (25-50 mile competitions). Currently I own two horses and ride for fun. Can you tell us a little about your background and how you came to work for Accusoft? I changed majors in college multiple times (Art, Anthropology, Environmental Science, and finally English/Technical Writing). My first job out of college was for Arthur Andersen where I learned the foundation of my profession. After that I did some consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers and then was recruited to manage a documentation department at Catalina Marketing. After that I was a stay-at-home mom and in 2008, I decided to return to the workforce and joined Accusoft (then Pegasus Imaging). What is one accomplishment you are most proud of? An accomplishment I'm proud of is being chosen to speak at two Tech Writing Conferences: one in Seattle, WA and another in Longbeach, CA. My current goal is working on leadership and speaking. I'm taking an online course to achieve this goal. What does Women’s History Month mean to you? Women have been contributors in shaping the world throughout history.
