State Street • West Lafayette, IN 47907-2054 (765) 494-4614 • Fax: (765) 494-0363 • botany@purdue.edu • http://www.btny.purdue.edu Position Announcement Title: Agronomic Crops Pathologist Rank: Assistant/Associate Professor (Tenure track, academic year appointment) Available: May 1, 2010 Location: Department of Botany and Plant Pathology, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN The Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at Purdue University is seeking applicants for a tenure- track faculty position with an academic year appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Research Responsibilities: Research emphasis will be on soilborne pathogens and diseases of agronomic crops, to further strengthen a comprehensive plant pathology program. The successful candidate will develop an internationally recognized, scholarly research program supported by external funding and is expected to establish research collaborations at Purdue University and with other state, national, industry and international groups. Involvement in graduate student education in plant pathology will be an important component of this position. Extension Responsibilities: The secondary responsibility is in the area of Extension education. The individual’s Extension program should address contemporary issues in field crops pathology that are relevant to Indiana and the Midwest. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate effectively with other faculty in an interdisciplinary team addressing crop production and disease management issues. Qualifications: Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in plant pathology or closely related discipline. Postdoctoral experience or previous research experience in soybean pathology is desired, but individuals with outstanding research accomplishments in pathology of other crops are encouraged to apply. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential and candidates should possess good teaching skills.
