SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Do not direct a solid stream of water or foam into burning molten material; this may cause spattering and spread the fire. Use self-contained breathing apparatus when fighting fires in enclosed areas. UNUSUAL FIRE & EXPLOSION HAZARDS: Sudden release of hot organic chemical vapor or mists from process equipment operating at elevated temperature and pressure, or sudden ingress of air into hot equipment under a vacuum, may result in ignitions without the presence of obvious ignition sources. Published “autoignition” or “ignition” temperature values cannot be treated as safe operating temperatures in chemical processes without analysis of the actual process conditions. Any use of this product in elevated-temperature processes should be thoroughly evaluated to establish and maintain safe operating conditions. Further information is available in a technical bulletin entitled “Ignition Hazards of Organic Chemical Vapor.” 5. REACTIVITY DATA STABILITY: Stable under normal storage conditions. INCOMPATIBILITY (MATERIALS TO AVOID): Not applicable. HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION OR BYPRODUCTS: Not applicable. HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION: Not expected to occur. CONDITIONS TO AVOID (if polymerization may occur): Not applicable. Revision Date: 4-14-09 MSDS Product: CSYA70POLY Page 1 of 4 Revision Date: 4-14-09 MSDS Product: CSYA70POLY Page 2 of 4 6. HEALTH HAZARD DATA HMIS RATINGS: Health – 1 Flammability – 1 Reactivity – 0 (0=Minimal; 1=Slight; 2=Moderate; 3=Serious; 4=Severe, *=Chronic) PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY: INHALATION? No. SKIN CONTACT? Yes. EYE CONTACT? Yes. INGESTION? No. ACUTE HEALTH HAZARDS: INHALATION- Short-term harmful health effects are not expected from vapor generated at ambient temperature. SKIN- Brief contact may cause slight irritation with itching a local redness. Molten material may cause thermal burns. EYE- May cause mild discomfort.. Molten can cause thermal burns. INGESTION- Slightly toxic. May cause abdominal discomfort, nausea, and vomiting CHRONIC HEALTH HAZARDS: INHALATION- Overexposure to vapor generated at high temperatures may result irritation, dizziness and nausea. SKIN- None Known.. EYE- Overexposure to vapor generated at high temperatures may result in eye irritation. INGESTION- Overexposure to vapor generated at high temperatures may result in nausea. CARCINOGENICITY: NTP (National Toxicology Program)? No. IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer? No. OSHA REGULATED? No. MEDICAL CONDITIONS GENERALLY AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: knowledge of the available toxicology information and of the physical and chemical properties of the material suggests that overexposure is unlikely to aggravate existing medical conditions. 7. EMERGENCY & FIRST AID PROCEDURES INHALATION- Remove to fresh air. SKIN- Remove all contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash affected area thoroughly with mild soap and water. Wash clothing before wearing again. Clean shoes before wearing again. If irritation develops or persists, consult a physician. If molten material contacts the skin, immediately flush with large amounts of water to cool the affected tissue and polymer. Do not use ice. Do not attempt to peel polymer from skin. Cover the wounded area with gauze dressing moistened with cool water; keep the dressing moist. Obtain medical attention. EYE- Flush with large amounts of water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if worn. For thermal burns: Immediately flush eyes with water and continue washing for several minutes. DO NOT remove contact lenses, if worn. Obtain medical attention without delay, preferably from an ophthalmologist. INGESTION- If a large quantity (several ounces) has been swallowed, and if patient is fully conscious, give two glasses of water. Induce vomiting. This should be done only by medical or experienced first-aid personnel. Obtain medical attention. NOTES TO PHYSICIAN- There are no specific antidote. Treatment of overexposure should be directed at the control of symptoms and the clinical condition of the patient. 8. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN CASE MATERIAL IS RELEASED OR SPILLED: o Stop the spill or leak. o Contain or dike the spilled product. Revision Date: 4-14-09 MSDS Product: CSYA70POLY Page 3 of 4 o Equip clean-up personnel with necessary personal protective equipment. o Avoid contact with hot product as it may cause burns. o Sweep/shovel into suitable disposal containers. o Report spill per regulatory requirements. 9. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD: Dispose of in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. EMPTY CONTAINER PRECAUTIONS: Empty containers retain product residue (liquid and/or vapor) and can be hazardous. Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind or expose such containers to heat, flame, sparks, static electricity, or other sources of ignition. All containers should be disposed of in an environmentally safe manner and in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. 10. HANDLING AND STORAGE HANDLING- For liquid state: Do not get hot liquid in eyes, on skin, on clothing. Keep container closed. Use with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly after handling. For solid state: Do not handle or empty in presence of flammable vapor. Keep container closed. Use with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly after handling. STORAGE- Store in a well-sealed container at moderate temperatures preferably under a nitrogen atmosphere. Avoid contact with atmospheric moisture, re-test after a maximum of two years. OTHER PRECAUTIONS: Melt and thoroughly mix before using. Do not heat above 121°C (250°F). 11.
