Panels are equipped with a voice frequency response speaker and electrostatic type microphone and can accommodate up to 18 buttons per panel. For more than 18 suites, the AM449 is used in conjunction with an AM429/12 or AM429/22. The AM449 is also equipped with diodes enabling it to work with the TA292A Suite Phone and PK292 Amplifier to allow for two-wire operation. The AM449 Entrance Panel and TA292A Suite Phone provide two-way communication between the building entrance and suite, in addition to telephonic privacy and hands-free loud- speaking at the entrance. Controlled entry is permitted by push button operation of the electric door release, if desired. System requires only two conductors (1 common, plus 1 selective #22 AWG). AM449/6, 8 10 button panels are available with postal option. (Note: On 8 and 10 button panels with postal option, PK292 cannot be mounted on back panel.) The AM449 requires OF190 series frames and OH190 series housings. The panel shall include a weather-resistant mylar speaker mounted behind a lou- vered panel and perforated aluminum material to protect the speaker from damage. The AM449 shall also include an electrostatic micro- phone protected by perforated aluminum material. Push buttons switches shall be individually replaceable type with self-wiping contacts. Push button actuator shall be made of solid, extruded aluminum suitable for engraving. In addition, the panel shall contain up to 18 individual name holders. The name holders shall be made of BLACK flame retardant polycarbonate plastic with clear flame retardant polycarbonate plastic strips to protect card inserts. Each name holder shall snap into two small slots on the panel itself and shall be individually replaceable. Each AM449 Panel or approved equal shall be equipped with name card sheets that may be easily separated into individual name strips. Name strips shall be inserted into name holders without the use of tools. The AM449 shall also provide the necessary circuitry for two wire intercom system operation when used with Alpha Communications®'s TA292A Suite Phone and PK292 Amplifier. The AM449 shall be flush mounted or surface mounted and shall be finished in brushed aluminum or optional gold anodized finish. The Alpha Communications® PK292 amplifier shall mount on the back of the AM449 Panel directly over speaker. This shall be possible because of the specifically designed rails on the aluminum extrusion.
