(Total dust/Respirable) -- 3. Hazard Identification Powdered material may form explosive dust-air mixtures. Ingestion May cause irritation to the gastrointestinal tract. Page 2 of 6 Print Rev. Date 12/04/2008 MSDS ID 2220 Neotrol 50/50, 100/50, 50/50D & 100/50D Type A Eye May cause slight irritation. Inhalation Dust may be slightly irritating to eyes and respiratory tract. Skin Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause irritation. Exposure may aggravate other pre-existing diseases, including diseases of the eyes, skin and lungs. Target organ Overexposure may cause kidney damage. Reproductive Overexposure may cause reproductive disorder(s) based on tests with laboratory animals. Tetracyclines as a class are capable of crossing the placenta and causing staining of the primary teeth. 4. First Aid Information Eye Immediately flush with plenty of water. After initial flushing, remove any contact lenses and continue flushing for at least 15 minutes. Have eyes examined and tested by medical personnel. Skin In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention immediately. Thoroughly wash (or discard) clothing and shoes before reuse. Inhalation Rescuers should put on appropriate protective gear. Remove from area of exposure. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Keep victim warm. Get immediate medical attention. If exposed to excessive levels of dusts or fumes, remove to fresh air and get medical attention if cough or other symptoms develop. Ingestion If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Give victim a glass of water or milk. Call a physician or poison control center immediately. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. 5. Fire Fighting Measures Flammable Properties Material will burn in a fire. Dusts at sufficient concentrations can form explosive mixtures with air. Extinguishing Media Use alcohol foam, carbon dioxide, or water spray when fighting fires involving this material. Page 3 of 6 Print Rev. Date 12/04/2008 MSDS ID 2220 Neotrol 50/50, 100/50, 50/50D & 100/50D Type A Remove containers from fire area if it can be done safely. Continue to cool containers until well after fire is extinguished. Fire fighting instructions As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full protective gear. Water runoff can cause environmental damage. Dike and collect water used to fight fire. Direct water stream may create dust explosion hazard. 6. Accidental Release Measures Clean-up Vacuum or sweep up material and place in a disposal container. Absorb spill with inert material (e.g., dry sand or earth), then place in a chemical waste container. Reduce airborne dust and prevent scattering by moistening with water. Do not flush to sewer. 7. Handling and Storage Handling Minimize dust generation and accumulation. May form flammable dust air mixtures. Wash thoroughly after handling. Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing (dust, vapor, mist, gas). Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Empty containers retain product residue and vapors. Do not cut, drill, grind, or weld on or near container. Storage Store in a cool place in original container and protect from sunlight. Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Store away from incompatible materials. Keep container closed when not in use. Keep away from food and drinking water. 8. Exposure Controls and Personal Protection Engineering controls If user operations generate dust, fume, or mist, use ventilation to keep exposure to airborne contaminants below the exposure limit. Local exhaust ventilation may be necessary to control any air contaminants to within their TLVs during the use of this product. Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped with an eyewash facility and a safety shower. Respirators A NIOSH-approved air purifying respirator with the appropriate cartridge or canister for the hazards may be permissible under certain circumstances where airborne concentrations are expected to exceed exposure limits. Protection provided by air purifying respirators is limited. Use a positive-pressure air-supplied respirator if there is any potential for an uncontrolled release, exposure levels are not known, or any other circumstances where air-purifying respirators may not provide adequate protection. Other clothing Wear safety glasses with side shields (or goggles) and a face shield. Use gloves, and other body coverings, recommended for this material by manufacturers or suppliers based on test Page 4 of 6 Print Rev. Date 12/04/2008 MSDS ID 2220 Neotrol 50/50, 100/50, 50/50D & 100/50D Type A data showing adequate permeation and penetration resistance. 9. Physical and Chemical Properties Physical State Solid, Color/Appearance Tan Odor Cereal Solubility Practically insoluble 10. Stability and Reactivity Low hazard for usual industrial or commercial handling. Thermal Stability Stable under normal conditions of use and storage. Incompatibility Strong oxidizers. Strong bases. Conditions to Avoid Incompatibles. Excessive heat, humidity or sunlight. Hazardous Polymerization Will not occur. Hazardous Decomposition Products Carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide may form when heated to decomposition. Thermal decomposition releases oxides of nitrogen. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of oxides of sulfur. Thermal decomposition may produce hydrogen chloride or chlorine compounds. 11.
