INTRODUCTION
The papers of the Harshman/ Snyder Collection were donated by Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan
Holland on April 3, 2003. The papers date from February 26, 1848 to July 6, 1959. The
collection fills one box and 48 files and is arranged into six series as follows:
Series 1: Deeds: Warranty, Quit Claim, Mortgage, Executors, etc.
Series 2: Deeds pertaining to Masonic Home
Series 3: Deeds and Right-of-Ways pertaining to railroads
Series 4: Probate and Common Pleas of Clark County and Hamilton
County
Series 5: Shares of Stock
Series 6: Miscellaneous
There are no restrictions on the use of this collection.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The span years for the Harshman/ Snyder Collection is from February 26, 1848 to July 6,
1959. The bulk of the collection contains deeds and certificates of stock. Other portions
of the collection cover a variety of topics, for example, agreements, plat blueprints, court
information, surveying statements, lists of deeds, and household goods.
Series 1 is a large series, containing lists of deed and land tracts, surveying and property
valuations, and plat blueprints. The deeds date from 1828 to 1944 with 28 files. There is
a list of deeds and pages describing land tracts. These do not necessarily match the deeds
included here. There are a number of blueprints. They seem to be in the area of West
Main Street in Springfield, Ohio. John Knepper has some surveying information that he
did for Anna H. Huffman in 1954. Mrs. Dillard had some valuation of properties done in
1959.
The various types of deeds are arranged in chronological order. Most of the deed pertain
to members of the Snyder and Harshman families. Other deeds are
