Athletics Volunteer Training

Volunteer Opportunities

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available through the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department. Channel your energy and motivation to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Volunteers really do make a difference in our community.

Volunteer Interest Areas 

Adopt-A-Spot - Make a commitment to keep a park or roadway maintained. Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful manages all volunteers for this program. Visit the Keep Tampa Beautiful website.

Conservation - Assist with habitat restoration, trail blazing, and invasive species removal and site clean-ups.

Parks - Volunteer opportunities include park maintenance, beautification, interpretive programs, and special projects.

Recreation - Work with children in out-of-school-time programs, teen programs, senior activities, preschool-age tiny tots, and more.

Special Events - Help with coastal and river clean-up, family fun days, bike and road races, scout projects, and the annual Senior Games.

Therapeutic Recreation - Volunteer for paralympic sports, out-of-school-time programs, the Special Olympics, Camp Sparks Summer Program, and the Bakas Equestrian Center.


Requirements
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer with the Department, or be a member of an established group such as Scouts, 4-H, etc.

To apply to be a volunteer with the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department, print and complete the form for Volunteers in Public Service (VIPs) and mail it to:

About Friends of County Parks

The Friends of the County Parks, established in 1988, is a group of concerned citizens joining together to promote financial and community support to the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation, and Conservation Department. They develop public awareness of recreation as an important part of day-to-day life. 

Funds provided by The Friends of the County Parks are used as a supplement to the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department budget and does not replace allocated tax dollars. These additional funds helps maintain, improve, and enhance services provided by the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department. The Friends of the County Parks enjoys a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit exemption status.
