Retrospective Exhibition "John Natsoulas Press - A
Visual History" on View at the John Natsoulas
Gallery from July 2 - August 23
The John Natsoulas Gallery and Press have a nearly
40-year history dedicated to research and publishing
- producing over 300 texts on historic and
contemporary artists
They many books focus on
painting, sculpture, ceramics,
and more, with a vast collection
of monographs and exhibition
catalogues to celebrate artistic
achievements
This exhibition offers a chance to explore the rare, limited-run publications and view
artwork from the books for an elevated experience.
Early on, the gallery and press delved into Bay Area
art history - particularly the Funk and Beat Art
Movements. The continuous dedication to these
topics remains pivotal today.
Established in Davis, the gallery has strong ties to the
California Clay Movement. That early emphasis on
ceramic art remains at the heart of the institution.
Large group shows have always been an important element of the program, and the many
catalogues represent countless artists from across the world.
