Law Enforcement Training Credits
Academic credit may be given for non-standard
academic work that is completed as part of an
accredited law enforcement training program.
A student who completes and is issued
a Police Officer Standards and Training (POST)
certificate as a result of his/her attendance
at a POST certified training academy can
earn up to 12 credits.
Military Credits
Students may earn up to 12 credits for coursework
completed in the military. Students must contact
their military education officer and arrange for a
transcript to be sent to SCS. An adviser will evaluate
the transcript to determine course equivalencies and
award transfer credits.
Litigation I Alternative Credit for Paralegals
Students currently working as paralegals may
receive credit for PARA 305 Litigation I. A written
test is required. Students interested in this option
may contact the Paralegal Studies program director
at (504) 865-5333 for complete details.
Tulane’s School of Continuing Studies offers part-time
students innovative ways to receive college credit
for non-traditional educational experiences. Students can
fast-track their college careers, earning a semester or more
in credits from life experience, military training, law
enforcement training, or knowledge gained through
on-the-job training. In some cases, students simply complete
paperwork related to the training in order to receive the credits;
in other cases, testing is required.
The many alternative credit opportunities available
are outlined in this brochure. Students interested
in assessing their alternative credit potential can contact
any SCS adviser. A maximum limit applies to credits earned
through alternative measures.
