LI404B Strobe Unit For Hearing-Impaired The Alpha Communications® LI404B strobe is a high-inten- sity remote visual signaling device for use with Alpha Commu- nications® PK543, PK543A, PK205, or PK292A amplifier apartment systems, and optionally with the Alpha Communi- cations® PK502B transfer relay(s). The unit is primarily for use in locations where hearing-impaired persons require supple- mental call notification, but can be used anywhere that a visual indication of an incoming call is desired. The bright strobe light flashes once a second for approximately 15-20 seconds when an incoming call is detected. The device can be installed in most standard single or double gang electrical boxes or similar indoor openings. It is not a weather- proof device and therefore should not be used for any outdoor applications. Installation is facilitated by use of simple connec- tions to the pre-mounted circuitry and a complement of mount- ing hardware. The LI404B's strobe light portion meets ADA and UL® 1971 requirements. REQUIRED COMPONENTS LI404B Strobe Unit PKxxx System amplifier: may be used with PK543A, PK205, PK292A and related system components (PK502B transfer relays, IR & TA apt. stations, CM & AM & VI or similar entrance panels). PK601A Power supply (requires SS106 trans former for power). One (1) per system when used with apartment amplifier(s) shown above, or one (1) per unit when used as stand-alone strobe(s). LI404B ARCHITECTS' AND ENGINEERS' SPECIFICATIONS The strobe light unit(s) shall be Alpha Communications®/ Tektone LI404B or approved equal. Operation shall be accomplished by placing a call to an apartment intercom (or video-intercom) station. The strobe shall flash for approximately 15-20 seconds after activation of the in- coming call signal. The strobe light shall have a brightness of 15 candela per UL® 1971 (75 candela per UL® 1638). It shall be encased in an attractive, flame retardant type ABS plastic housing. The strobe light shall meet ADA and UL® requirements for signaling appliances. The strobe shall be powered by the appropriate 24VDC power source (PK601A or equiva- lent). Contractor shall observe all local and national electrical and building codes.
