Wyma, PhD, has joined Proactive Worldwide as Senior Engagement Manager for the company’s life sciences/healthcare practice. With a PhD in microbiology and immunology, Dr. Wyma adds a wealth of experience to the company’s scientific expertise on staff. He comes to Proactive Worldwide from the office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence in Washington, DC, where he served as the Deputy Director for Scientific and Technical Intelligence Analysis. He has also been a senior intelligence officer with the National Center for Medical Intelligence, where he directed the Emerging Biotechnology Team on a wide array of technologies, including stem cells and novel vaccines and therapeutics. In Bagram, Afghanistan, he was a senior intelligence analyst with the Defense Intelligence Agency, where he supervised support for targeting for military operations. As a medical intelligence analyst, he authored or co-authored more than 100 intelligence reports on foreign biotechnology capabilities and served as head of the Avian Influenza/Pandemic Influenza Team. Dr. Wyma performed molecular and biochemical experiments on the Rift Valley Fever virus and Ebola virus as an American Society for Microbiology Research Fellow in the Special Pathogens Branch for the CDC, and performed research under BioSafety Level 4 lab conditions. Dr. Wyma received his PhD from Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN) and his BS degree in biochemistry with a minor in biology from Benedictine University (Lisle, IL).
