This test will show competency with ONLINE navigation and word processing for the online student. The test will assist in making sure all PC Virtual students have the skills necessary to succeed in online learning. If the skills are needed, the student will be enrolled in appropriate courses to meet the individual needs of the student. This test will be apart of the requirement for all incoming students as well as a graduation requirement. Students will take the FREE ONLINE test through the Learning Center once they apply to the College. The Computer Competency Test will cover the following areas: • Microsoft Word • Microsoft Power Point • Microsoft Windows • Internet Navigation COMPASS TEST: Presentation College has put in place a new math testing program to gain a more accurate score for math placement. This program is the COMPASS test. All new degree seeking students to Presentation College are required to take the COMPASS test. Immediate accessibility to information is essential for success in the virtual classroom and in today’s workforce. Today’s learners need portability, reliability and accessibility to technology and information. In response to today’s changing technological needs, Presentation College is continuing its Wireless Technology Initiative. The object of the Wireless Technology Initiative is to provide a dynamic learning environment, giving PC students access to a flexible and comprehensive learning community. Who Needs A Laptop? New, degree seeking students will be required to participate in this program. Students may choose between laptop options being offered by Dell Computers in cooperation with Presentation College, or they may choose to purchase their own laptops. Laptops purchased by students must meet specifications to ensure accessibility to the network and online programs. PC Virtual students who have computers that meet Presentation College’s specifications will have the laptop requirement waived. The requirement is waived as you will not be attending classes on campus or accessing Presentation College’s campus wireless network.
