UH ENERGY RESEARCH PARK
Houston, September 8, 2009 – The University of Houston continues to advance towards becoming a
premier research institute. On August 12, the property known as University Business Park (UBP) was
acquired by the University of Houston System.
UBP, located at 5000 Gulf Freeway on I-45 half a mile east of the University of Houston main campus,
was the former Schlumberger Wells Services Corporate headquarters. The property, now named UH
Energy Research Park, is composed of 69.7 acres and 580,552 square feet of office, office/warehouse
and light manufacturing space in 14 buildings. It will provide research and classroom space for UH
programs like petroleum engineering and also be home for UH energy research centers, institutes and
third party tenants.
