Course description: This course presents the fundamental concepts of oil and gas law including the relationship
between landowners and oil and gas operators, government regulation, and documents used in the industry.
Prerequisite: None
End‐of‐course outcomes: The student will define and properly use terminology relating to oil and gas law; locate,
describe, and analyze sources of law relating to oil and gas law; and draft documents commonly used in oil and gas
law.
The Oil/Gas Law class will be offered on Monday evenings from 6:00‐8:40 p.m. at the West Campus. First class will
be Monday, August 25; last class will meet Monday, December 8.
2. TITLE EXAMINATION AND DEED PLOTTING – Location: TJC Main Campus

Course Level: Introductory
Course Description: Prepares students to perform deed research of tracts of land to determine land titles and
prepare run sheets of prior and current ownership. Includes methods of interacting with private citizens and public
agencies, use of topographic maps, historical data, and deed references.
