Being Latina, born and raised in Brazil, has broadened my perspective on diverse cultures
and people. I was raised with a deep sense of empathy and a commitment to our community.
Despite numerous financial challenges, my family taught me the values of strength,
resilience, and perseverance in pursuing my dreams —even if it meant moving to another
country by myself at just 17 years old!

What does Hispanic & Latin Heritage Month mean to you?
It's a month of recognition and enrichment of a culture that formed my character
and personality. I look forward to sharing it with others, “my name is Panama” (as
quoted by the Panama Visitors Bureau).

Celebrating Hispanic & Latin Heritage Month!
Can you share something special about your culture?
Something special about Peruvian culture is our respect for family and
community. We have a strong sense of unity.

Fiorella Ratti, Software Engineer in Support I
One special thing about my culture is our love for music and dance
—salsa, bachata, merengue—it's part of every celebration. Our
close family bonds and tight-knit community; we truly stick
together. I especially look forward to our holiday traditions, like
getting together to make tamales—corn dough filled with meat,
wrapped in corn husks—the day before Noche Buena (Christmas
Eve), continuing the traditions my parents cherished in Cuba
Read more from Stephanie here.
We have adopted a bilingual household.
It's a way to recognize our heritage and
keep with traditions. Speaking of
traditions, we love celebrating all the
Latin holidays. One of my favorites is
"Tres Reyes", Three Kings Day which is
celebrated on January 6.

How do you recognize and
celebrate your heritage?
Justice Montoya, Accounting Assistant
Through food. My grandmother is an amazing cook
and learned how to make all her Mexican dishes from
my great-great-grandmother. Being able to enjoy
dishes such as enchiladas, pozole, and chile rellenos
(to name a few) is something that I try to cherish
every time we are together. Especially when I have
the opportunity to make those dishes with her.

September Celebrations
A note from Megan Brooks
At the risk of sounding a tad cheesy, it is very hard to
believe that another year has gone by since we last
talked about our ‘Accuversary’. Accusoft (then Pegasus
Imaging) was formed on September 1st 1991, making us
33 years young this year. It’s so special to be part of a
technology company that continues to
invest and
innovate after more than 3 decades - finding new ways to
meet customer needs and seek out new business
opportunities. As I look back over the last 12 months
that's what I see most - a company with a wonderful
legacy and history that is moving forward in leaps and
bounds. I also happen to believe we have an incredibly
special team and your resilience and creativity is what
allows us to continue to modernize and be a market
leader. Taking time to pause and reflect is something we
don’t do often enough but it feels so good to remind
ourselves of the pride we should all feel for the work we
are doing. I continue to be ever grateful to be here doing
what I love with this extraordinary team.

Upcoming Event - Hispanic and Latin Heritage Month!
S E P T E M B E R 2 0 2 4
Hispanic and Latin Heritage Month
Hispanic and Latin heritage month is celebrated each year from September 15 to October 15. In 1968, under
President Johnson, the recognition of Hispanic and Latin Heritage began as a week-long celebration. In 1988, the
celebration was expanded to a full month by President Reagan.
This now month-long celebration recognizes Hispanic and Latin history and culture and the impact that these
cultures have had on the United States. Recognition is given to those who have contributed to many important
parts of our culture and history including in art, sports, advocacy, and culinary traditions to name a few.
Why are these celebration dates significant?
Hispanic and Latin Heritage month begins mid-September and concludes in mid-October in honor of the many
Central American countries who celebrate their independence days within this span of time.
Remember to join us for a celebration of Hispanic and Latin Heritage on
Thursday, September 26 with the following in-person and virtual opportunities:
Did you know?
The United States has a Latin population of over 60 million people.
This accounts for 18.9% of our total population, and comprises the largest racial or ethnic group.

Heritage Month. More information can be found here.

Tell us what philanthropy means to you.
For me, philanthropy comes down to a fundamental part of
humanity: We have thrived as a species by setting aside our
selfishness and helping others whenever possible. I 've been
profoundly privileged and lucky that the thing I love to do
has also been a very valuable one, so one of the ways I
choose to help others is through charitable donations.
You recently used the Matching Gifts Program, tell us a
little about the organization you donated to.
The Jimmy Fund is a fundraising project of the Dana-Farber
Cancer Institute. In 1948, the Jimmy Fund was launched with
the help of the Variety Club of New England. The club
organized a radio broadcast from the bedside of a young
cancer patient, dubbed "Jimmy," as he was visited by
members of the Boston Braves baseball team. Since then it
has grown to raise funds for DFCI's core mission of patient
care and treatment research. I 'm sure that all of us at
Accusoft has had cancer touch our lives, and for those of you
who remember our late colleague Dan Powers, the Jimmy
Fund and DFCI was particularly important to him. You can
