Page 1 Welcome to Early Swimmers! September 2008 Early Swimmers are a part of the Berlin Bear-a-Cudas Swim Club. By joining Early Swimmers, your child is becoming a member of Sport-Club John-F.-Kennedy-School e.V. The membership ends every year on July 31 st so you need to re-register for next year but you can continue swimming with us for as many seasons as you like and later join the team Bear-a-Cudas with more training and swim competitions. Once you join the Early swimmers, you keep your spot for the next seasons. Cancellation of Membership: if you need to cancel your child’s membership during the school year (e.g. moving), you can do so four weeks prior the end of each quarter (four weeks before Dec 31 st or March 31 st ). Written cancellation letter has to be sent addressed to Sport-Club John-F.-Kennedy- Schule Berlin e.V., Swim Club, Teltower Damm 87/93, 14167 Berlin. Pls. also send an email to Registrar. Website: http://eteamz.active.com/bearacudas/ READ BEFORE FIRST CLASS -- POOL RULES Dressing Rooms: Parents must use same sex dressing rooms! If a father accompanies his daughter please use the dressing room for men (first two entrances). If a mother accompanies her son please use the dressing room for women (third and fourth entrance). You can help your child to change and put things in a locker (does not need to be locked). The swimmer should go to the bathroom, take a shower and enter through the door at the back of the shower and waits near the small pool for the class to begin. Parent returns to the entrance lobby. Parents are not allowed to enter the pool area. Parents can go back to the dressing room again after the class is over to help their child get dressed (please do not wait in the dressing room but in the main lobby). What to bring: swim suit, large towel, slip-on shoes for child and yourself, shampoo, 5 cent coins to operate hair dryer. Shoes: Child and parent are required to remove their shoes prior to entering the dressing room area. It is a pool rule that shoes be worn at all times in the main lobby. We recommend wearing slip-on shoes on class days for convenience. Entrance Control: In October, every swimmer receives his ID card for the year which he shows to the person doing Entrance control in the lobby of the pool. Absence: If your child should be absent for two weeks or more, please notify Registrar. Young swimmers: Please explain to your child that you will be waiting in the lobby and that the swim class is his “independent” activity and you cannot stay and watch at the pool. If the child wants to see you during the class, the coaches will bring him to the large glass door near the big pool and he can Page 2 wave or speak to you. Before your child gets familiar with the routine, please wait in the lobby for the duration of the class. Please explain to your child that he can get out of the pool any time if he needs to go the the bathroom. Make sure your child uses the bathroom before class every time. If your child does not feel well please skip the class on that day. Payment: Membership fees are deducted by direct debit from your account either quarterly or annually. Cash payments are not possible. 1 st Quarter: October, November, December 2 nd Quarter: January, February, March 3 rd Quarter: April, May, June 4 th Quarter: July, August, September -- no fees Membership ends automatically on 31 st July Annual Meeting and Early Swimmers Party: Each year parents are invited to participate at the Annual meeting (General Assembly) to elect new Board and discuss important issues and concerns. Towards the end of the school year, parents and swimmers are invited to the Early swimmers party (Potluck) where children receive their Awards and re-register for the next season. Dates are announced by e-mail in advance.
