The Peak Lookout - Interior Design by ZHA The Peak Lookout in Hong Kong is one of Zanghellini & Holt 's most iconic interior design projects from their long and very prestigious portfolio. The celebrated Hong Kong establishment is housed within a historic 19th century Grade II building at 121 Peak Road, The Peak, Hong Kong. Hk The site of the building has been in use since 1888 and was first used as a workshop and resting post for the engineers that worked on the Peak Tram Line. It later went on to be used as a local police station during WWII. After the war in 1947, the building was then renovated and turned into a cafe called the Old Peak Cafe, which remained until the 2001 ZHA refurbishment where it was transformed into the Peak Lookout. In 1981 the building was given a Grade II protective status, so ZHA had to consider this for their interior design project. The Peak Lookout offers an international menu to suit its multicultural clientele, so ZHA wanted to create an interior and exterior design for the restaurant that would reflect their culinary choices. The Peak Lookout had been operating as a cafe previous to its 2001 refurbishment with ZHA but was in great need of an upgrade. The design company gave the historical building a fresh new look that created a warm and welcoming ambience with lots of small decorative elements for great visual appeal.
