Journal Entries Daily journal entries need to include enough information to allow other teams to continue excavation of the site. They need to know (1) what you have done, (2) what you have found, and (3) what you are planning to do next. Recorders also need to include a list of daily finds (identified by hour & number) and a list of people working on each part of this project (investigators and reporters/recorders). Sample entry: Date: Monday, April 20, 1998 @ 9:40 am Reporters: Gertie & Susie Q Investigators: Sally Sue and Billy Bob Quadrant: A Billy Bob and Sally Sue excavated sections A1 to A6. During the process they discovered four bones. We believe the larger bone (SS-6) may be a leg bone matching the large bone (SS-1*) uncovered by the 4th Hour team. The other finds were smaller bones of unknown origin. These three smaller bones (SS-7, SS-8, & SS-9) may be similar to those found by the 6th Hour team yesterday. Billy Bob also uncovered a fossil (SS-10) that may be from the Crinoid family (found in the fossil guide). This find may help us determine the age of our creature and its habitat. Susie and I have detailed the location and size of all four bones on our site map and tagged them with the required information. Tomorrow we plan to excavate sections B1 to B6. * The label, SS-1, refers to the first bone found at the Sandstone Survey site. Daily entries must include: √ Reporters √ Investigators √ Areas excavated √ List of finds √ Possible theories
