UCT Radio was also one of the first student-community radio stations to get their broadcasting license in 1994. UCT Radio has been at the forefront of training media professionals since its inception, with many ‘big names’ in South African media passing through our doors. Mark Gilman (5FM), Natalie Bekker & Suga (Good Hope FM), Randall Abrahams (SA Idols Judge) and Bongani Njoli (Heart 104.9FM) are just some of the names of former UCT Radio staff. We pride ourselves on being a training ground for many a name in the current South African media landscape. But what’s in it for you? Why should you advertise on UCT Radio? UCT Radio 104.5FM offers something unique to the Cape Town radio listener. We focus our programming at anyone between the age of 14 and 26. We are the only youth-orientated radio station in the Cape Town area. UCT Radio has a seven-day cumulative listenership of 21,000 individuals (SAARF RAMS – November 2007), with a Monday to Friday daily listenership of 5,000 to 6,000! We understand that not all of our listeners are UCT students and staff, and we have a strong focus on high school learners in our broadcast area (a 20km line-of-sight radius around UCT). 3 Aside from the chance to reach 5,000 to 6,000 individuals who listen to UCT Radio every day, why else should you advertise on UCT Radio?
