The Greenest City in Europe
Växjö’s ambitious climate goals and successful environmental
activities have long been the reason for numerous techni-
cal, study and media visits from all over the world. In 2007
the BBC visited Växjö and coined the concept of Växjö being
The Greenest City in Europe. Since then, even more journal-
ists have visited the city and written articles for a number of
important journals and produced many TV reports all around
the world. Växjö is frequently put forward as a good example
within an environmental and climate context, both in Sweden
and throughout the world.
Växjö can’t solve the climate and environmental problems alone,
but we willingly take our responsibility. For many years we have
actively worked for a reduced effect on the climate and a better
