Passover Inspires a Life of Real
Freedom
At CoolCantor Hebrew School, when we teach kids about Passover, we don’t just
talk about ancient Egypt or chains made of iron.
We talk about the chains we still carry today — the ones that are invisible, but just as
heavy.
Because true freedom isn’t something you’re given. It’s something you create.
And it starts inside.
The Chains We Still Carry
When I was working with Jay, one of my amazing students from Los Angeles who
enrolled in my Online Bar Mitzvah Lessons, I saw something incredible happen.
Jay is smart, hardworking, and deeply kind. But like so many kids today, he struggled
with invisible chains:
The chain of jealousy: Seeing friends with bigger houses or flashier vacations on
Instagram and feeling small inside.
The chain of insecurity: Comparing his own achievements with the “perfect” lives
other people posted online.
The chain of distraction: Losing hours of focus and precious family time to mindless
scrolling and games.
These aren’t problems from 3,000 years ago.
They’re the battles our kids fight today — every single day.
And just like Moses helped free the Israelites, we need to help our children free
themselves.

That’s why at CoolCantor Hebrew School, I don’t just teach Bar and Bat Mitzvah
lessons — I teach life leadership.
Through our Online Jewish Education and Virtual Hebrew School Program, students
learn skills that last far beyond their Bar Mitzvah Ceremony.
From Hebrew Skills to Life Skills
When Jay first signed up for Online Bar/Bat Mitzvah Tutoring, he wanted what most
students want:
To learn Hebrew,
To chant his Weekly Torah Portion,
And to feel proud during his big day.
We started with the basics — Learn Hebrew Language reading practice using
transliterations and the Best Hebrew Course methods available.
Through Bar Mitzvah Classes and Bat Mitzvah Lessons, Jay built his skills week
after week.
But we went beyond that.
Each time Jay learned a new section of his Torah Portion, we paused and connected
it back to real life.
When we read about the Exodus, I asked Jay:
“What are the chains you’re working to break in your own life?”
That’s when everything shifted.
He realized that mastering Hebrew wasn’t just about tradition.
It was about training his mind — for focus, for perseverance, for courage.
