Until AL & SNF are prioritized, we will see increased deaths. Providers would gladly pay for PPG & kits if made available along with a point of contact & guidance. There are also operators who have kept Covid-19 out of their homes despite no resources.

Assisted Living is Not Being Prioritized with
PPG or Testing amid Covid-19
STORY IDEA: Are you currently working on any
stories that showcase senior living providers
who are actively protecting residents from
Covid-19, ensuring they have food, medicine,
care and companionship as compared to those
seniors who are at home alone? This side of the
story is not being told.

Workers Faces Right Now and Why Elderly
Residents are Dying The media compares the
Covid-19 pandemic with NYC at the
epicenter, to ground zero during 911.
Articles abound daily as to
the number of deaths in
assisted living and nursing
homes.
I've had the privilege of working
with hundreds of senior living
operators that care for both assisted
living and memory care residents as
well as skilled nursing and rehab
centers for the past two decades.
While senior living is a
business, it's first order of
priority is and always will be
residents.
Many media stories are raising
concerns over the number of deaths in
assisted living communities and
suggesting it's associated with an
unwillingness to invest in proper
personal protective gear and testing
kits; it's simply not true.
My team is involved with assisted living and
memory care communities as well as SNF
and rehab groups and hears first hand what is
really going on nationally at the site level; like
in New Jersey where it's a worst case
scenario and one of our clients has lost both
employees and residents.
Assisted Living communities
as a whole do not have
access nor have been made a
priority to life saving personal
protective gear.
Without Assisted Living
communities, frail seniors would
have little access to food or
medical assistance and the
majority would be isolated and
depressed during this pandemic.
