DISCLAIMER HELENA CHEMICAL COMPANY INTENDS THAT THIS SECTION 24(c) LABEL BE DISTRIBUTED ONLY BY IDAHO ONION GROWERS ASSOCIATION (IOGA) TO END USERS AND/OR GROWERS WHO AGREE TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS REQUIRED BY THE IOGA INCLUDING A WAIVER AND RELEASE FROM ALL LIABILITY AND INDEMNIFICATION BY THE USER AND/OR GROWER OF HELENA CHEMICAL COMPANY, IOGA, AND OTHERS FOR FAILURE TO PERFORM AND CROP DAMAGE FROM THE USE OF HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN AS A DELAYED PREEMERGENCE TREATMENT ON DRY BULB ONIONS. IF SUCH TERMS AND CONDITIONS ARE UNACCEPTABLE RETURN HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN HERBICIDE AT ONCE UNOPENED. THE USE OF HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN MAY RESULT IN CROP INJURY, LOSS OR DAMAGE. HELENA CHEMICAL COMPANY NEITHER RECOMMENDS, ADVOCATES NOR WARRANTS THE USE OF HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN ON DRY BULB ONIONS. HELENA CHEMICAL COMPANY RECOMMENDS THAT THE GROWER TEST HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN IN ORDER TO DETERMINE ITS SUITABILITY FOR SUCH INTENDED USE. HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN SHOULD BE USED BY THE GROWER ONLY TO THE EXTENT THAT, IN THE SOLE OPINION OF THE GROWER, THE BENEFIT OF USING HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN OUTWEIGH THE POTENTIAL INJURY TO THE GROWER’S CROP. THE DECISION TO APPLY THIS HERBICIDE MUST BE MADE SOLELY BY THE GROWER WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT YIELD MAY BE REDUCED AS A RESULT OF MANY FACTORS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, INSECTS, DISEASES, WEED COMPETITION, POOR SEED QUALITY, IMPROPER PLANTING DEPTH, MECHANICAL CULTIVATION, POOR WEATHER (INCLUDING FREEZING OR EXCESSIVE WIND, RAIN, HEAT OR COLD) LACK OF OR EXCESSIVE MOISTURE, CRUSTING, FERTILITY, HARDPANS, AND THAT OTHER ADVERSE EFFECTS THAT MAY RESULT FROM THE USE OF HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN. HELENA CHEMICAL COMPANYMAKES NO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE NOR ANY OTHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY REGARDING THE USE OF HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN ON DRY BULB ONIONS. THERE ARE MANY RISKS OF LOSS OR DAMAGE TO ONION CROPS ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE OF HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN. HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN HERBICIDE SOMETIMES CAUSES POOR STANDS DUE TO FAILURE OF ONION PLANTS TO EMERGE, SWELLING OF THE ROOTS AND OTHER PLANT PARTS BELOW THE GROUND, LESS VIGOROUS PLANT GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT AND/OR REDUCTION IN YIELD POTENTIAL OF THE PLANTS, EVEN WHEN DIRECTIONS FOR USE ARE FOLLOWED PRECISELY. HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN MAY ALSO CAUSE INJURY TO SENSITIVE ROTATIONAL CROPS. BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF CROP DAMAGE, ALL SUCH USE IS AT THE USER’S AND/OR GROWER’S RISK. MANUFACTURED FOR HELENA CHEMICAL COMPANY 225 SCHILLING BOULEVARD, SUITE 300 COLLIERVILLE, TENNESSEE 38017 DIRECTIONS FOR USE It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN herbicide controls most annual grasses and certain broadleaf weeds as they germinate, but it will not control established weeds. Unusually cold, excessively wet, or hot and dry conditions that delay germination or extend it over a long period of time may reduce weed control. For control and annual grass and small seeded broadleaf weeds as specified in the HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN specimen label, uniformly plant dry bulb onions 1 inch deep and ensure that the furrow is thoroughly covered with soil. Failure to plant dry bulb onions a minimum of 1 inch deep in the soil increases the injury potential. Apply HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN after germination of the onion seed but prior to emergence (Delayed Preemergence) when 75% of the radicals have developed on the onion seedlings. Radical emergence should be determined by digging onion seedling at random locations in a field and noting radical elongation. Apply HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN at rates specified in the table on this page. HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN will not control emerged weeds. For effective weed control, HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN must be applied to clean tilled soil or tankmixed with a burndown herbicide to control emerged weeds prior to onion emergence. Uniformly apply in 10 or more gallons of water per acre with ground equipment, 5 or more gallons of water per acre with aircraft. HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN is most effective when adequate rainfall or irrigation is received within 7 days of application. DO NOT apply more than 0.25 inch of initial overhead irrigation following Delayed Preemergence application of HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN on dry bulb onions. Broadcast Rate per Acre of HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN herbicide Used as a Delayed Preemergence Treatment on Dry Bulb Onions* Soil Texture Rate (Pints per Acre) Coarse 2.4 pints Medium 3.0 pints Fine 3.6 pints * DO NOT exceed a total of 3.6 pints per acre per crop. Notes: (1) On coarse textured soils (> 90% sand content), the risk of crop injury is greater than with medium or fine textured soils. Potential injury may be due to variability within soil type. (2) Higher use rates of HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN herbicide within soil types may result in greater chances of crop injury. (3) If loss of onions occurs due to adverse weather conditions, any crop registered for HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN preplant incorporated use can be replanted the same year into HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN treated soil without adverse effects. If replanting is necessary, soil should not be reworked deeper than 2 inches. HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN may be applied sequentially in dry bulb seeded onions. Apply first application of HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN Delayed Preemergence. Apply sequential application of HELENA® PENDIMETHALIN early postemergence (up to 9 true leaf stage). DO NOT exceed the maximum labeled rate for a given soil texture. DO NOT exceed a total of 3.6 pints per acre per crop. For use under this SLN label. DO NOT apply this product through any type of irrigation system. DO NOT apply preplant incorporated or preplant. DO NOT apply within 45 days of harvest. DO NOT feed or graze to livestock.
