Description: Lauryl/Myristyl Dimethylalkyl Tertiary Amine CAS# 112-18-5/112-75-4/112-69-6 AT-1214 is a mixture of C12(62-75%), and C14 (21-30%) dimethylalkyl tertiary amine; ‘R’ in the structural diagram above refers to the different carbon chain lengths present from C10-C22. It is a clear to slightly hazy liquid under ambient conditions with a strong fishy odor. PHYSICAL PROPERTIES (all properties @ 22°C (72°F), 760mmHg unless stated) Very slightly soluble in water under ambient conditions. GENERAL INFORMATION Application Uses End-use applications for AT-1214 include surfactants (such as amine oxide and betaines), quaternaries (biocides, swimming pool and water treatment), flotation agents, gasoline detergents, corro- sion inhibitors, rubber processing additives, emulsifier for herbi- cides, textile softeners, and oilfield drilling materials. GENERAL INFORMATION cont... Shelf Life Shelf life is affected by how a product is stored. P&G Chemicals only provides shelf life for NF materials for which a stability study has been conducted. For all other materials including Tertiary Amines, P&G Chemicals does not provide a shelf life or expiration date. Storage and Handling (recommended) Storage Temp Targets: Ambient Handling Temp Min-Max: Ambient (5-10°C over melt point) Sensitive Properties: Color, Floc precipitates at lower temps. Max Steam, psig: 30 Nitrogen Blanket: YES (4 to 8 oz. of pressure) Load out filter: 25 micron Rail Car or Tank Truck: Stainless Steel, Phenolic Epoxy Resin-Lined Agitation/Recirculation: YES Storage Tank: Stainless Steel (304 min), Glass-Lined, Phenolic Epoxy Resin-Lined Pumps and Lines: Stainless Steel or lined Note: 1) Amines change color over time even in glass at room temperature. Sunlight degrades color of samples in glass; protect samples from sunlight. 2) Agitation is recommended for amines, especially if tank is bottom draw or if tank will be run down to low levels. This will prevent slugs of “floc” being pumped off and plugging lines. Agitation is required when applying heat to amines.
