SECURE 2.0 Act: Key Changes & Opportunities
Chicago Retirees Should Know In 2025 & Beyond
The SECURE 2.0 Act is rolling out new rules for
retirement planning, impacting how Americans save,
invest, and withdraw funds.
Required Minimum Distributions
(RMDs) now start at age 73, rising
to 75 by 2033—giving retirees
more time for tax-deferred
growth.
Catch-up contributions get a boost in 2025, letting workers aged 60–63 put more into
their 401(k) and 403(b) plans before retirement.
Roth 401(k)s are now exempt from RMDs, aligning
with Roth IRAs and offering more flexibility for tax-
free growth and estate planning.
Charitable giving is easier, with IRA donation limits now
indexed for inflation, and penalty-free emergency
withdrawals are allowed.
Experienced investment advisors like Anthony Pellegrino of Goldstone Financial Group are updating
strategies to help clients rethink their retirement income plans.
